| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] This is the Wiimote Playstation Move. Sure, I'll admit that the motion sensors in the Sixaxis sucks balls, but seriously, if Sony wanted to create their own Motion-specific controller, you'd have thought that they'd show even a bit of imagination... Aw well. This guy however, has written an atcitle on how the Move is not a Wiimote. Hell, one of the first titles to use it is freaking SOCOM 4! Here's a thing that I found interesting too: - Quote :
- -The colored ball: The colorful sphere at the pointing end of the Move is the thing that the PlayStation Eye uses to detect the presence of the Move. The color changes. In the demo I played with SOCOM 4, the sphere was orange. Why? Because the software detected that there was no orange in the background. If we had been in a different room, the color would be different. The Wii's signature hue may be white, but this varying color at the end of the Move will likely prove to be the Move's visual trademark.
That is pretty cool, you've gotta admit... Here's some more info... What do yuo think?

| Remember the joke where if Nintendo released a second console similar to the Wii? And what it would be called? Well, we have a name for it now! - Spoiler:

My first thought, heh. The 'THIS IS NOT A WIIMOTE' article is a real gas. THERE ARE LESS BUTTONS ON THE PS MOVE GUYS AND IT DOESN'T NEED AA BATTERIES AND ITS ADDITIONAL CONTROLLER DOESN'T HAVE A WIRE AND WHEN I WAS TRYING IT OUT THE GUY DIDN'T FORCE ME TO WEAR A STRAP FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS HEH WHO NEEDS THOSE NINTENDO IS FOR BABIES [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] - Quote :

From a purely technical point of view, of course.

| People just be hatin' on the PSMove 'cause it's black. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Anyway, the button layouts/shapes on the two sticks are now direct ripoffs of a projector remote and an RCA universal TV remote respectively. WAY TO FAIL AT INNOVATE | |

No, no, no... it looks like TWO dildos. Selling point: more ergonomic than a Wiimote! Yes, especially when the joystick attachment simply looks like a... er, plug. I'm fairly sure I've actually seen this in a sex shop. I'm not sure I understand exactly what Sony think they're doing with this. I thought the target demographic for the PS3 was those SRS BSNS gamers who wouldn't be seen dead twirling a controller round like a demented windmill.

- -Fewer buttons: The Move controller is actually even
more streamlined than the Wii Remote. Nintendo's Remote still offers/confuses a new player with a d-pad, plus, A, minus, 1 and 2 buttons as well as a home button and B trigger. The Move has its own home button and underbelly trigger, but just five other points of button input. That makes the controller actually feel a little naked and therefore likely even less daunting to a new player — unless they need their controllers to look like TV remotes. Let's do the math here, shall we? Wii Remote: D-pad + A + plus button + minus button + 1 + 2 + home + B = 8 buttons PlayStation Move: Home + trigger + 5 other buttons = 7 buttons Which means... 1 button difference. How exactly is this so much more streamlined and so much less confusing? - Quote :
- -No wasted batteries: The Wii remote sucks up AA
battery juice. The Move and its companion sub-controller are rechargeable via the same mini-USB connection used to charge the PS3's main controller. Because a charge station for the Wii Remote is such a hard thing to get.

| I've had one since 2007. Unfortunately one of my battery packs malfunctioned. But then I don't play my Wii much anyway, and even less with two players.
(That wasn't meant as a jab at Nintendo, I haven't had much time to play games period since the semester began.)

It's still a minor pain in the backside, one more thing to buy, and one more bit of equipment hanging around the house. Between the battery-chomping cordless mouse and the mp3 player that won't charge off anything other than a live computer I've had to deal with both those issues (that phrasing makes it sound like such a hardship...), and with the amount of electronic equipment in the average house it would be nice if more things just worked. [/peeve] Got a crappy wired mouse and a USB mains charger for both those problems, lest you think I'm moaning about it and doing nothing else.
