I'm Nthing the twins thing, especially when they do the "finish each other's sentences" bullshit in canon. Tate and Liza, the Mossdeep City Gym Leaders in Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, are a good example. Since they do the finish/copy each others' sentences thing in the game, I can only imagine what the fic with them is like!

Stargate: SG-1. All Teal'c seems to do in badfic is stand around saying, "Indeed," and shooting things when called for.

And raising his eyebrow. It's part of his daily exercise.

To the best of my memory, Ianto Jones cried approximately TWICE during seasons one and two of Torchwood. The first time was after Jack and the rest of the team killed Lisa (perfectly understandable, given the circumstances). The second was during 'Adam,' when, due to the false memories Adam gave him, he honestly believed he'd raped and strangled several young women.

There's some question as to whether or not he's crying in 'End of Days,' after Jack disappears, when he buries his face in the coat. Even if he was, that would make three times in 26 episodes.

In other words, he is not a wilting little flower who bursts into tears any times someone speaks harshly to him. He's more likely to react to stress by becoming snarky, and even in 'Countrycide,' when he's obviously terrified, he still head-butts the lead cannibal so Toshiko can escape.

Yet in fanon, he bursts into tears if Jack so much as raises his voice or Owen calls him 'teaboy.' Given how thoroughly RTD raped his character in COE, he really deserves to be remembered as the strong, valuable member of the team he was.

Ezri Dax. Lord does she get folded, spindled and mutilated in badfic.

Yes, when she was first joined to the Dax symbiont she was extremely confused and overwhelmed. There's a reason for that - she was never trained to be a candidate for joining. Now, all of a sudden she's got 7 other people running around in her head.

It messed her up for a while, but once she found her footing she became as good an officer as anyone else on Deep Space Nine. She made peace with Worf (who warmed to her after dismissing her as cheapening Jadzia's memory), fell in love with Bashir, decided to switch to command track and by the most recent book series
Spoiler:

But in fanfic, she's always a dull bowl of mush. She's constantly berating herself for "not being like Jadzia". That is, when Bashir and Worf aren't berating her for dishonoring Jadzia's memory. Every decision she makes, all the way own to which boot to put on first in the morning, is paralyzing.

Not to mention once her family was introduced in "Prodigal Daughter" they started adding massive amounts of trauma to her by making her a victim of emotional abuse by her mother.

Bumping this up cuz after checking out Outsiders and seeing the fanfiction, there is quite a few flanderization around:

Johnny Cade: His description as a kicked puppy is blown way over proportion, forgetting that he still looks threatening to other people. Also, he's shy and pretty intimidated by girls, so he turns into a sniveling heap on the sidewalk every time he sees someone mildly attractive in fanfic land.

Ponyboy Curtis: Reading, watching sunsets, and going to the movies are apparently the extent of his activities.

Sodapop Curtis: He's a nice guy, so he's either hyper beyond all comprehension, or he's the cutest, cuddliest guy around, forgetting that Soda still kind of a hood. Also, since he spends a lot of time over at the DX (Since he, you know, works there), he apparently lives there.

Darrel Curtis: Darry probably gets it the worst of all. The guy was an athlete, a top student, a scholarship winner, Boy of the Year, the popular guy in school, capable of making good at two jobs, lost his parents, and is the caregiver of his young brothers (which he takes very seriously) all at the age of 20. Yet, he constantly reduced into a coffee-drinking, no nonsense, disciplinary tight ass who works, sits in a chair reading the newspaper, and yells & nags at his teenage brothers.

Keith "Two-Bit" Mathews: Two-Bits likes the drinks and in the movie is a big fan of Mickey Mouse, so he gets turned into an alcoholic who is obsessed with Mickey Mouse.

Steve Randle: Pony doesn't like him, so he constantly reduced into a huge jerk.

Dallas is the probably the only one who gets off scott-free.

It may surprise people to learn that in the original anime, Akane Tendo only used her mallet once or twice to strike Ranma. ONCE OR TWICE.

It's not like she's goddamn Gallagher guys, come on here.

Also, she appears to be phaselocked into Tsun-Tsun mode all the damn time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Genma is often described as fat for some reason. It is probably a combination of his formless gi, flabby panda form, and what can be described as muscle mass. However, the stories that have Ranma gagging at the sight of him shirtless or naked is just appaling. They bathe together all the time!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All Ryouga ever does is wander around looking for things and picking fights with Ranma. Remember, Ryouga is the closest thing Ranma has to a friend in the anime.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In something that Megane 6.7 has termed "Saint Ukyo", Ukyo is Jesus Motherfucking Christ and can do no wrong, ever, especially compared to that bitch Akane, seriously, CANT YOU SEE SHE AND RANMA ARE MAAAAADDE FOR EEACCCHOOOTTHEEERRRRRR
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mousse? Who is he? I've never heaerd of him, no siree. He's the kendo guy, yeah?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kodaichi and Kuno are banging eachother. This one irritates the hell out of me, OF COURSE THEY AREN'T THEY'RE OBSESSED WITH RANMA SAOTOME and they are probably saving themselves for him/her.
