Rules And Guidelines

Okay, for the sake of trying to avoid meltdowns and keep some things running smoothly, we have decided to implement three hard-and-fast rules and several “guidelines” that will help you navigate WGW.

Rule #1: Do not post child pornography to this board. If you find a fic or an image that has child porn in it, and you want to snark it, you may but only if you do not post any of the sexually explicit images or scenes in your snark. First offense will be a temporary suspension of posting privileges. Second offense is permanent ban. We are not going to mess around with this.

Rule #2: While this board states that you must be 18 to join and post, we do not check ID at the door. If you’re underage and you get in, great. Welcome to the party. But if you out yourself as underage (either on the board or in a link to your personal pages), you’re gone. No exceptions.

Rule #3:Illegal content. We aren’t the police, and we aren’t RIAA. If you like to use torrents, that’s fine and dandy. So do we. But don’t link them here. Again, first offense is suspension. Second is a ban.

Okay, now guidelines are more flexible and will allow for judgment calls from us as to how we should proceed. Except for post cleanup, these will operate on the “Rule of 3” – 3 of the 4 of us must agree that something needs to be done before something will be done. This will ensure that no one moderator can flex too much power on these things.

Guideline:If you post content that is Not Work Safe, put NWS in your post title. Some of us do not have the privacy that you do. Moderators will tag threads as NWS if you don’t.

Guideline: You can be an ass, but don’t harass. We expect you to be adults and handle your own problems when someone’s being mean to you on the boards. We aren’t your mommies. However, there is a line between being a jerk and harassing:

· Posting another user’s real name or contact information without their permission is harassment.

· Following a user from thread to thread (regardless of topic) to post berating comments is harassment.

· Continuing to post berating comments after being asked to (or told to) stop is harassment.

Harassment will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

Guideline: Don’t stretch the boards. If an image is too big, resize it. If you don’t, and people
complain, it will be resized for you.

Guideline: If you don’t know, ask. These guidelines will not cover everything. If you see something that you feel might be harmful to the board, please PM one of us. We will take a look, and decide how to proceed between us before opening the discussion to the board at large.

Sanctioning:

Sanctions will be on a sliding scale for guidelines, based again on the “Rule of 3”.

1st Offense – Warning from a moderator.

2nd Offense – Moderation (posts would be “spot-checked”) for 3 days. Think probation.

3rd Offense – Moderation for 10 days.

4th Offense – Suspension of account for 1 week.

If following the 4th offense there continues to be difficulty in following these guidelines, suspensions of longer duration may be imposed.

Right of appeal – any person who is sanctioned by the moderators may appeal the decision. However, the appeal must be by PM. Public appeals will be summarily rejected. We will then open the appeal for public comment from the board at large if warranted. However, the decision will remain ours to make.

Might want to add in under the 'harassment' section that threatening to find a user IRL also counts as harassment.

Regarding the 'Right of appeal' section... I reckon there should always be public discussion in regards to permabans. Temp. bans and post moderation, not so much, but I personally would like it if it's made public when anyone is being considered for a permaban, unless they specifically request otherwise, so that 'normal' users can give their own arguments for or against it, kind of like when Skillet was banned.

Umm... that's completely just my opinion though, so... any thoughts?

Tbh Raes comment was in My original outline that you guys seemed to have followed. That and unless the proposal had it's own thread people would miss it.

The problem is that some people post their actual locations, and that's one of those "squishy" issues that could be very hard to define.

The proposal did have its own thread - it was an Announcement post.

This is exactly what I was thinking of.

Can I just check: is it only NWS or if someone used NSFW would that also be adequate?

As long as you mark it, either acronym's cool with us (just don't make up your own and expect us to figure it out by ourselves )
