| It should go without saying, but if the words 'Mill Run' appear in the ingredients list, stop using that pet food and burn it. It's industry code for 'leftovers, trash, and whatever we happened to sweep off the floor that looked like it would make suitable filler'. | |

Dogs eat that sort of shit if left to their own devices. Proving that cats, evil, sociopathic, cunning murder machines they may be, are the superior pet.

| True, but that doesn't mean you should knowingly feed them things like sawdust, metal shavings, small sharp-edged chips of bone, animal urine, etc---all of which fall under Mill Run. | |

| I can't stand Vegetarians and Vegans who try to force it on animals.
Apart from anything else, they CHOSE to become vegan - fair enough, although humans are omnivores; they come closer to the side of herbivore, but are SUPPOSED to eat some meat and as a result you'll need artificial vitamins...
But dogs and cats... well, that's a totally different matter. Dogs may be omnivores officially, but they come much closer to the carnivore side and their health can suffer a lot even with plenty of supplements. And as for cats... FELINES ARE FULL-ON CARNIVORES. If there's no regular meat they'll still prefer to a diet of various insects over plants. They eat meat and only meat. That is WHAT NATURE INTENDED. If you don't want your pet to eat meat, DON'T GET A CARNIVORE FOR A FUCKING PET.
And these super-vegan people are FORCING it on these animals and the animals have no choice. You have to wonder, would they force it on other humans if they could? Well, seeing as they generally force it on their children, damn right they would.

| I fed my guinea pigs a vegan diet. Of course, they're natural herbivores. They still ate insects that got into their cage, though. | |

| It is and always will be beyond me how Vegans rationalise against breast milk. Go against Cow milk as a protest against cruelty to cows, go against eggs (you know, which are unfertilized anyway) as a protest against cruelty to imprisoned chickens...
But being against human breast milk being fed to your baby? Somebody in the Vegan community is missing the point of vegetarianism, methinks.

| ^ Yeah I am not sure about that one myself, but I do not think there are, like, a shitload of vegans who are on that bandwagon? I mean I do not even think most vegans are against honey either, really, veganism is really mostly about how shitty cow and chickens get treated plus a little of how unnatural and possibly unhealthy dairy is for humans.
But you know how it is; for every way of being there are going to be people who are all extreme about it.

| Nope, honey is still an "animal product." | |

| ^ Dude did you even read what I wrote? Not all vegans think the same way or have the same dietary restrictions, and plenty enough of them consider honey ok. My point was exactly that you cannot generalize them and then you just immediately go and do it. | |

| There comes a point where you're not so much a "vegan" as "vegetarian who thought 'vegan' sounded cooler." Most of the contention comes from how far outside diet being a vegan should apply, if at all. There really isn't a whole lot of gray area when it comes to diet. | |

| Yeah and honey is pretty well established to be one of those grey areas, shit dude. | |

*shudders* It never ceases to amaze me what kind of vile garbage that people will feed their pets, and not even have a second thought about. Then again, looking at what people feed their human offspring it fits the pattern, but still... - Penguin wrote:

Yeah, by the definition of vegan, honey is not a vegan product. Sure there are people who claim to be vegans that still eat honey, just as there are people who claim to be vegetarian while eating fish. They can call themselves whatever they want, but they're still wrong.
