| Okay...here's the deal. You guys are familiar with Matthew Patrick's series called Game Theory, right? Well...I recently had an idea fo a theory to send to him...but I could use a little help.
The idea is to look at some healing items from a couple of my favorite RPGs and see if they have any real life equivalent. So...here's what I need...
ITEM ONE: Medicinal Herbs from Dragon Warrior DESCRIPTION: Medicine made of pulverized and mixed mandoragora root and mugwort WHAT I NEED: I've confirmed the existance of mugwort, but not mandoragora. I suspect a mistranslation or mispelling. (Or both!) I'll need a name for a root that this might be. NOTE: I DID find "mandragora", but that's poisonous...so that's probably not it.
ITEM TWO: Red Potion from Maple Story DESCRIPTION: Potion made from red berries WHAT I NEED: Good ideas for red berries with medicinal properties. I've already got goji, juniper, and rowan as possibilities...but if you guys have any better ideas, feel free to list them.
ITEM THREE: Blue Potion from Maple Story DESCRIPTION: Potion made from blue herbs WHAT I NEED: Any kind of medicinal herbs that have blue flowers. The only one I know of that I could find was hyssop, one of the herbs used in Ricola.
Well...that's what I need. Any help will be appreciated, guys!

| On mandragore: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Medicinal herbs with blue blossoms: Try gentian or lavender. You'll have a hard time finding anything that's genuinely blue, they all have at least a purplish tinge. There's also blue vervain, although the medicinal herb is common vervain; again, purple. | |

| Red berries... lingonberry, and a similar but non-related berry that apparently doesn't have a proper English name - Arctostaphylos uva-ursi. Both are used to treat urinary infections and stuff connected to them. They're also good for the functionality of several organs. Lingonberry is a big name in my country's cuisine - it's very healthy, it keeps well and it goes with just about anything.
For blue flowers, perhaps lavender?

| Lingonberries are also big here in Minnesota. In fact, at the State Fair, the Food Building has one vendor that sells an "Uff Da Brat"...which is a Norwegian style bratwurst wrapped in lefseand garnished with a lingonberry ketchup. Hmm...and looking it up online, I had no idea it had medicinal purposes.
Thanks guys! Keep 'em coming if you have any other ideas!
