Hindu Woman Dies Because of Pro-Life Bullshit

This poor woman was left to miscarry "naturally" over a three day period and fucking well died of septicaemia and E.coli ESBL. This was a case where a medical termination was clearly necessary on day one, no matter what you think about the precious babies, and they let her suffer and ultimately die because the doomed foetus was technically "alive". There isn't a farmer on the island that would let a cow die this way. The fucking government treats us worse than livestock.

The X Case established that a woman has a right to an abortion under Article 40.3.3 of the Constitution if there is "a real and substantial risk" to her life. But none of the subsequent governments have bothered to draft legislation that gives any weight to this ruling, and so you get fucking bullshit like this - doctors standing around prevaricating about whether the woman's life is substantially at risk while she slowly succumbs to infection for the sake of a "baby" THAT'S NOT GOING TO SURVIVE ANYWAY.

I hate doctors (and legislators) like this. How in the hell do doctors get to be doctors without realizing that if a woman dies from her pregnancy, the fetus will also die?

Sadly, this isn't limited to batshit doctors and legislators in Ireland. America has more than its share of idiots (like the doctor who delivered my brother-in-law back in 1974, who believed that a C-section was the same as an abortion and thus refused to perform one on his patient, despite the fact that the fetus was four weeks late and presenting throat first, making my brother-in-law the only person in recorded history to survive being born in that position) and politicians ('cause, ya know, pregnancy can no longer endanger a woman's life or health because modern technology has solved those problems, and also, women never get pregnant from rape, because the female body has a way of shutting that whole thing down ).

This is a flawed analogy as there is no industry dedicated to killing women to harvest their flesh for food. I mean, killing a cow is nothing. It's like cutting down a tree that smells bad. Except you can grow a new cow quicker than you can grow a new tree.

You know, abortion comes in pill form nowadays (mifepristone). If you can't get it locally, there's always the internet. Too bad for that woman though, she didn't even get the chance. I wonder if her husband can sue for wrongful death?

I'd go into a poorly worded excessive rant about Separation of Church and State, and how religion is needlessly complicating the simplest of things, but I think all around I'd sum up the rant with just:

No use in getting the name right if everything else is botched: it was not an unwanted but healthy pregnancy, it was a miscarriage in itself. Her own body was already doing what the pill would do. Furthermore would you trust a drug bought on the black/grey market over the Internet? Don't. Ever.

And it goes without saying that now they've lost both the women AND the baby. Ah me, Abortion laws.
