| I'll have people wanting my head on a platter... but I couldn't stand Elfen Lied. Too many unlikeable characters, evil to the point of stupidity villains, a "heroine" who kills her love intrest's father and sister when they're both kids, and some CREEPY fans who think it's okay for said female lead to pretty much MURDER whoever looks at her funny. "Your puppy is killed by bullies? KILL THEM. A girl is sent to fight you? SLICE HER LIMBS AFTER BEATING HER! A girl likes the boy you do? WHY DON'T YOU JUST GO KILL HER SO YOU CAN GET YOUR MAN! She killed the guy's sister and brother in a hissy fit? Awwww, but she's so in LUUUUUV, and they were puny humans anyway. Lucy is so kewl AND DON'T YOU DARE QUESTION HER ACTIONS!" - EileenK98 wrote:

I read the manga and it was okay. The anime, though? ... Huh, not impressed. (And they butchered my favorite manga part, too.)

Why would people want your head on a platter for that? "Omg, this anime is so original because that moe-shit character that appears in the beginning, is killed." Nevermind that the heroine herself is a moe-shit when she isn't being all lol edgy~ (murdering people).

Nevermind that the heroine herself is a moe-shit when she isn't being all lol edgy~ (murdering people). Because many Elfen Lied fans are borderline psycho in their defenses of Lucy? Okay, so the kids in the orphanage were huge assholes, but there's NOT fucking excuse for her killing Kouta's dad and little sister in cold blood just because she got jealous that he was going to a festival with a girl and not with a boy like he said he would. And yet I've seen EL fans call the little sister "a bitch who deserves what she got" or stuff like that. I mean, the series paints humans as pretty much cartoonishingly evil villains that you can't take seriously, but wtf.

I'm sure that fans defend Lucy because she is one of the Protagonists and is therefore somehow sympathetic. To be honest I mostly watched it for the Lucy kills everyone scenes, the Nyuu scenes were, while emotionally gripping in some way, fairly long winded. Well in my opinion anyways.

| Full Metal Panic.
Dear Lord. If ever there was a show which should have ended after the first arc, this was it. I mean, the first arc wasn't too bad, but then they finished up and pretty much ended the storyline about, oh...seven episodes in? I forget. And so, when the writers suddenly realized they had half a season and no plot left, the whole thing just degenerated into pointless filler and LOLSOZANY highschool shenanigans. Oof. I swear, I could not even figure out why Sousuke needed to stick around with Kaname after episode 7. Seriously. (Note: It's entirely possible that I'm remembering things wrong here. It has been a long time since I attempted to watch this madness. If anyone wants to call me out on my possible idiocy, please do.)
Also, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
Ow. Lots of ow. Considering how much I love this manga, I just...ow. At least the first anime tried. It had its troubles, and it was never going to be anything world-changing, but at least it tried for decency.

To be honest I mostly watched it for the Lucy kills everyone scenes, the Nyuu scenes were, while emotionally gripping in some way, fairly long winded. Well in my opinion anyways. I stopped watching Elfen Lied after three episodes because it made me feel high uncomfortable. Oh, let me help you with those panties, girl. Just RAISE YOUR LEGS SO I CAN LOOK INTO YOUR CROTCH AND I"LL SLIP THEM RIGHT ON. Oh no, my girlfriend comes by and totally gets the wrong idea. Also, this show suffers from the Samurai Deeper Kyo (another terrible show, by the way) problem, and that is that Lucy and Nyuu are not at all drawn like the same person. Nyuu has those great round eyes and a tiny chin, while Lucy has slanted eyes and a larger chin. Now I now that expression can change someone, but come on, looking murderous doesn't rebuild your entire facial structure.

I was sure it was that one too, but for some bizarre reason I can never, ever remember the name of that anime. All I remember is watching one episode and it sent me to sleep - which is quite strange in itself since I've never once fallen asleep accidentally through any kind of show/movie.

Why that design? Some mechs just tend to better than others. The whole "fantasy mech" genre of design is quite tedious as well. So far the only good mechs I've seen from that genre have been from Five Star Stories. Although I do think another issue I have with it is that it looks like a bunch of mechs smooshed into one. I can see pieces from The Big O, Neon Genesis, and Gunbuster.

I think Dean just doesn't stand up straight. Ok, maybe it's not a foot. But it's a substantial difference. Ackles is apparently 6'1 and Padalecki is 6'5. That's still over 10 cm. One of my friend's 10 cm taller than me, and believe me, it shows clearly when we're standing next to one another. She's frickin' huge compared to me.

| Pokemon: Best Wishes is shit. It's a bigger pile of rehashed fucked up shit than Pokemon Diamond and Pearl was. If DP took the plot and ran it through a paper shredder every seven episodes, then BW took the characters and ran over them with a fucking bulldozer.
Just wanted to throw it in there.

| I watched the first three episodes and thought it wasn't too bad. Ash was woefully fucking stupid, as always [seriously, you lose to somebody using their starter for the first time with your Pikachu? Fuck that], but Team Rocket were actually competent. Don't really have an opinion on Iris yet. Mijumaru is adorable. Anybody watched My Little Sister Can't Possibly Be This Adorable yet? | |

*bitter* What? Noooo... forget about Ash being an idiot (is it just me, or does Pikachu job now?), and focus more on Team Rocket. For the past few years I've believed the only thing Team Rocket really needed was a decent meal, some funding from the boss, and to get rid of Wobbuffet in order to become competent again. AND HELL YES, IT FINALLY HAPPENED. My hopes are a little higher for this season than the past Hoenn and Sinnoh ones. It's mostly because I heard the guy who directed some of the first season of Yugioh 5Ds is now working on Pokemon too. And 5Ds isn't really that bad either (from what I've seen at least...). - Just Chipper wrote:

Haha, you know I took a look. I'm not watching more than the first episode though, it's... weird. But how about that Panty and Stocking and Garterbelt show? Now THAT'S weird.

I haven't watched Bakuman yet (not really my sort of series), but Star Driver has been... interesting. It's FABULOUS, yet somehow a little boring. I have to agree with you, although I've only watched the first episode - Panty and Stocking is completely ridiculous in a pretty funny way. My anime club has a thread for each new season where we do quick impressions of series. Some of our impressions are: Iron Man is rather impressive; Samurai Girls is cliche, but hot; Togainu No Chi is grimdark, yet completely boring; Milky Holmes is the worst thing ever. Actually... Chip, I dare you to watch an episode of Milky Holmes - DO YOU DARE ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE?
