According to Valve, Half-Life 2 eps 1-3 constitute Half-Life 3.
Also according to Valve, releasing episodes should take less time than releasing a whole new game, Half-Life Source was worth paying money for, and Day of Defeat Source would be an improvement to the series, and not just a Source tech demo and stand-in for TF2.

I liked the hell out of portal, but I doubt the sequel will run on my PC! Doesn't matter if it's $50, 'cos I always wait for 'em to get cheap anyhow :D

Portal was awesome, but part of the awesome was the ending ambiguity. I'm leery of a sequel.

Well, it's perfectly obvious that blowing up GLaDOS farted you out into the HL1 'verse.

GAWD DAMMIT!
That's what you get for buying such a crummy system
I'm rather leery about Portal 2, because the original became such an iconic part of gamer culture. You can bet Valve is doing this because they have dollar-signs floating in their heads. Also, Portal seemed to work best as a physics puzzle game because the entire game was mostly a series of tests. If they move it to a more open-world setting, then I fear the puzzels would become a lot easier (like using cinderblocks to balance out a lever) or a lot more contrived.

Ohhhh, I don't know about this, guys. I mean, yes, but...no. I am afraid.
I suspect they're maybe going to go back in time rather than go on with the storyline from the first game, since GladOS is really the main character and since dragging it into the open world would change the game so much. I dunno, that's what I would do, I could be totally wrong. Just a hunch.
Oh man, the comments on that article.

Is...do you play video games, son? Or, you know, operate in the real world? ...at all?

Valve sent another patch to Portal, and this time, it wasn't an elaborately disguised set of code teasing an upcoming sequel. No, this was more straight-forward -- it'a a new goddamn ending. Well, more specifically, it's an ending that continues farther than Portal's original final screen; it's very short and it doesn't contain any mind-blowing revelations, but still, respek to Valve for finding new and awesome ways to get people excited about a sequel.
